Neighborhood Watch Captain Gets Truth About Drugs To Community

August 21, 2008

Americans around the U.S. took to the streets in early August as part of National Night Out meeting with neighbors, law enforcement and civic officials in a show of unity for safer communities. Activities of the evening included games and bouncy houses, inside looks at police cars and emergency equipment, as well as informational booths from community organizations of all kinds. In many cities, there were tables of Truth About Drugs booklets, including one set up by David Wahl, a Neighborhood Watch Captain in Milwaukee for the past four years.

More than 1000 Truth About Drugs booklets were given out at the 2008 National Night Out block party in Milwaukee.
More than 1000 Truth About Drugs booklets were given out at the 2008 National Night Out block party in Milwaukee.

“I decided the Truth About Drugs materials should be part of our National Night Out block party because this information hits at the heart of violence on the streets caused by drug dealing gangs,” said Wahl. Together with his wife Janet and Sam Korlanian the team infused more than 1000 Truth About Drugs booklets into their community in just over two hours.

“People were so interested, we ran out before the party was over, but we’ll be following up and getting them to everyone we missed,” said Wahl. “The information is needed and it is great to empower our community like this. It is going to save lives.”
